Urban Contemporary and Stretch & Strength
TeacherAlycia has trained extensively at Spotlight Dance Centre since the age of six, studying Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Modern. She has competed in several competitions and festivals throughout the lower mainland as well as 5678 Showtime Whistler and the BC Annual Dance Competition in Prince Rupert – ranking continually within the top three for group and solo routines. She has worked with many professional artists within the local Dance community associated with The Source, Move and Modus Operandi, whilst also completing the third term of Modus Operandi’s sixteen hours per week Contemporary Training Program and film project. Her resume includes leading roles in Harbour Dance Centre’s production of Wicked, performances at the PNE, Cavalcade for Stars, as well as closing Damien Rice’s Seattle Concert at Benaroya Hall. Currently, Alycia is a member of the Contemporary Cabaret troupe, Rococo Cabaret, which performs regularly at the Majestic. She stays heavily involved within the local art scene performing at festivals, fundraisers and much more. Alycia deeply regards her passion for dance as an expression through movement. She looks forward to sharing her awareness and artistic vision with students and fellow dancers while continuing to broaden her knowledge of other dance methodolgies and forms.

Salsa and Hip Hop
TeacherSergio is a passionate choreographer and dance teacher. He has trained in many styles including : Ballet, Jazz, contemporary, Street Jazz, Hip Hop and  Latin dances (salsa, reggaeton, merengue).  Sergio believes that there is no limit to advancing one’s talents and continues to update his own techniques through constant training. His training includes Tramaine Dance Centre, Los Angeles, Moro Landis Studios (Millennium Complex), Los Angeles, Edge Performing, Los Angeles, Steps, New York, Luigi’s Jazz Center, New York, and most recently, Harbour Dance Centre, Vancouver,BC.

As a choreographer and dance instructor Sergio has international experience including choreography for the national Mexican television station (Televisa S.A. de C.V.), choreography for Burbank Studios (Walk City Show, Universal Studios), LA, Choreography for Levi’s Tour, Mexico, choreography for Crystal Waters at the Florentine Gardens L.A. choreography for Elite Fashion Week , Mexico City . And many more.. He has taught at many dance studios across Mexico, as well as a select few in Barcelona and Los Angeles . Sergio has been choreographing and producing nightly dance performances as an entertainment director and choreographer in several large all inclusive resort brands in Mexico, most recently with Barcelo Resorts. After relocating from México to Canada, Sergio is finding a home for himself within the dance community here, Currently he is teaching hip hop and street jazz classes in the Greater Vancouver Area and looks forward to sharing his passion for dance with his students.

 

Beginner Jazz
TeacherAnthea has been dancing since the age of 3 and was trained at the Kirkwood Academy of Dance, Caulfield School of Dance and the Goh Ballet Academy in the Professional Division.  She has studied, jazz, modern, contemporary and ballet and has completed her Advanced RAD examination. She has also performed in numerous productions such as the Nutcracker, Cinderella, Coppelia and the Fairy Doll.
 
Anthea is now part of UBC Dance Horizons and looks forward to teaching enthusiastic dancers attending UBC.

Richard
O’Sullivan is a multi-talented individual who has for several years has been involved in the creative arts field. He is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, actor and model.

He studied various types dance i.e. jazz, ballet and hip-hop for a couple of years at Dance West. He also trained hip- hop and street jazz in Los Angeles.

Now, he is currently teaches Hip-Hop and Street Jazz at several dance studios over the lower mainland, some of which are Horbour Dance Center, Dance West, Dance Mode, Arts Umbrella and many others.

Richard played Ben in Rumble in the Bronx with Jackie Chang and also had a part on Like Mike 2 and Kicking It Old School. dancing and acting. In addition, he has performed as a dancer for the feature film Scooby Doo 2, Harry Connick Jr video, Minolta commercial, Knocking on Heaven Door a drunk driving video, a t.v. show called 2Gether on Much Music and The Goodbye Girl. Richard has choreographed for t.v. Shows such as Romeo featuring Master P and Little Romeo, L Word, and Connection with M.C. Hammer. He has opened up for SWV and 98 Degrees and in addition he toured with Japanese singer Anri in Japan. As for local talent Richard has choreographed and performed for singers Corey Lee, Jade, Kiara Hunter, Monica from the New School, Aiden and Kyle. German artist named Sara for X-cell records is also a singer that Richard has choreographed and danced for. In addition to all of that he has also choreographed and performed for events such as Molson Indy Fashion Show, 1996-2000 Ski Show, Bootlegger Show, 1996 Show of Hearts Telethon, Jr. Black Achievement Awards; dancer /model, Dragon Boat Festival, Tommy Hilfiger Show and Polo show.

Richard not only enjoys the performing side of the business but takes great pride and pleasure in seeing the pieces he choreographs come alive and expressed by the many individual he teaches or choreographs for.
